Teenage suspect is charged as adult with first-degree murder in Denver shooting

A 17-year-old suspect is being charged as an adult in the shooting death of a teenager in Denver.

Deontre Hollie is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Tayanna Manuel, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday in a news release.

Tayanna’s body was found by police officers on Dec. 26 behind a dumpster at 4927 North Sedalia St., according to the release. Her death was ruled a homicide by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

Hollie was arrested on Saturday by the Denver Police Department.

Hollie, who is suspected of shooting a juvenile male the same night that Tayanna was shot, is also charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon serious bodily injury, and tampering with physical evidence of a felony crime.
